Thank you Freda.

The Oriental Cathedral Window

This is the next project for a Textile Session.
It's an Oriental Cathedral Window.
Machine and Hand Sewing Techniques
make it a great project.
Each block window allows you to enjoy the fabric.

Paper Craft Friday

This Friday it was Paper Craft Friday and we covered the tables in the
studio with our journal pages materials and embellishments.
Jay got married in December and wants to make a
Scrapbooking come Junk Journal of the day.
We had great fun and Caroline who was trying to get some drawings done
ready to transfer to printing plate looked on as we
used so many different techniques.
I added some more to the Keepsake Junk Sewing Journals.

Irene Making

Irene has been busy this week making an Oriental inspired
purse for Muriel out of Chinese Silk.
A cushion kit brought at a show
and she made the Oriental inspired Dresden Plate
in class using one of the Studio tried and tested techniques
with frayee fabric!
What a busy bee!
See Muriel's Dresden Plate Cushion using the same technique
HERE

Rotary Mat Bag

We all love this colourful Rotary Mat Bag made by Barbara.
Barbara tried two different ways of quilting.
She used a walking foot and Machine Quilting on one side
and hand quilting on the other.
She admitted she has fallen in love with hand quilting and wants
to do some more.
Just a great bag for putting your Rotary Mat, Ruler and Cutter in.
We teach how to use the Rotary Cutter and equipment in
the studio.

Frozen Somerset Patchwork Cushion

Muriel has made this Somerset Patchwork Cushion and used the
Snowflake fabric inspired by 'Frozen'.
As usual it is made with a high standard of finish
especially Muriel's famous buttonholes.
Just great!
The pattern is also known as 'Folded Star Patchwork'.
This a good video on how to make
The Somerset Patchwork.

Birthday Card for Andrea

Carole stitched this Birthday Card for Andrea at Textile Tuesday Class.
A mixture of papers and fabric.
Using the different stitches on cards and in journals
just adds that extra touch.
Happy Birthday Andrea.

Dress Making

There are also dressmaking items to make in the studio and
Jo has become quite the shirt maker.
They are beautifully tailored and this time made with stripes,
(it's the matching up of patterns).
Sylvia has made several aprons from an 18ft cutwork
banqueting tablecloth.
We laid it out in the studio across four of the tables!
Sylvia very cleverly used the embroidery sections and cutwork
edging.
Both articles are beautifully finished and would fit
easily on,
"The Great British Sewing Bee'.
Which is back on our television this week.
We all laugh as one of my Health and Safety Tips
is 'No Needles and Pins in Mouths!"
My husband and students all yell at the telly
when they see contestants doing it:)))
There was a great discussion in the studio, who would
like to go on 'The Bee' and everyone agreed it's great
to watch but we wouldn't like to be put under that
pressure. So well done the contestants that do.
Another Textile Life rule is
'Never mix Paper Scissors  and Material Scissors!'

We all love Downton Abbey Too!
